FAQ

What is a document timestamp?

A document timestamp is cryptographic proof that a specific file fingerprint existed at or before a specific time. It does not expose your file contents.

How does Bitcoin timestamping work?

We hash your file locally in your browser, then anchor only that hash into a Bitcoin transaction (OP_RETURN). Once confirmed, that bitcoin timestamp is permanent and independently verifiable by anyone.

Is this legally admissible?

Legal admissibility varies by jurisdiction and case type. What you always have is independent, tamper-evident proof of existence that can be verified without trusting Everstone.

How is this different from a notary?

A notary relies on appointment time, location, and a central party. This is a decentralized notarization alternative with no middleman and a permanent public ledger record.

Can I timestamp any file?

Yes. You can timestamp documents, images, audio, video, or archives. Hashing happens client-side, so we never need to see your raw file.
